I'd assumed that the wheel was invented somewhere in the ancient Near East. I think the archaeologist is right, though, that multiple cultures invented the wheel at the same time.

Went from being totally lost as a teenager to finding solace in aesthetics and fitting urself into a template in my late teens and now I think I struck a healthy intermediate where I know who I am as a person generally but Iām also completely subscribed to the idea of evolving and would never deny trying something just bc it doesnāt fit the image of myself I crafted in my head
#I rly want to spend a considerable amount of time just testing things and seeing how I like them instead of figuring out how they fit into#The jigsaw of my selfhood#Bc thatās the kind of self containment that keeps ppl from exploring who they truly r beyond what they associate w certain aesthetics that#Have already been done to death#Also part of this is accepting that I as a human have shifting opinions and may change my mind and so change the way I carry myself#I get sad when I see ppl label flexibility w how u conduct urself an identity crisis#This is literally why the well is so dry and nothing is new anymore#In reality ppl who invented the wheel just looked at things they liked and incorporated that into who they are and thatās how they became#Trends#like if you can envision a way it fits into ur head thatās all that matters#And if you allow urself the ability to change ur mind on things thatās so much the better#And an important skill to have in life actually

Headcanon to no particular purpose:
Editorial cartoons exist in the world of Girl Genius (we know newspapers do).
The Parisian newspaper cartoonists universally represent Gil as a wolf and Tarvek as a fox. Agatha is a lioness.
If they have more space for details, the imagery becomes winged wolf (control of the skies), crowned fox (authority and royalty), and lioness with a broken trilobite collar (power unchained).
#girl genius#headcanons#worldbuilding#ot3#pictures in my head#see representing sparks in newspaper cartoons is really dangerous#like maybe they get offended by how you've drawn them#but maybe they turn up in your studio and demand to model and won't leave and drink all your tea#or maybe they turn up in your studio and they've invented a better pen for you#it is steampowered and on wheels and uses acid and doesn't fit up the stairwell#so they've helpfully moved your studio to the ground floor#and maybe removed a wall#so representative artwork is the safer option#animal avatars for everyone#krosp likes this because if agatha is a cat he is so too her king he told you so#i bet krosp reads all the newspapers#agatha heterodyne#tarvek sturmvoraus#gilgamesh wulfenbach

I finished reading 4 books from Earth's Children series. The last three were really hard to read. After finishing Plains of Passage, I have come to really appreciate Clan of the Cave Bear as a standalone. I miss all the Neanderthals and Ayla's character arc. Gotta do some fanart!
PS. I MISS IZA! Best character in the series.
#clan of the cave bear#earth's children#after the first book it just goes downhill#REALLY DOWNHILL#Ayla becomes the biggest mary sue EVER#in the first book it was believable because it's established in the story the Neanderthals have different skills that Ayla must adapt to#and she wasn't doing anything over the top#She was just adapting#but later she starts doing insane things#like wtf?? NO human ever figured out they could strike iron pyrite to get sparks?#NO ONE ever figured out they could make a needle?#She invented the arrow too (or whatever that thin short spear things they did? not the spear thrower#I will not be surprised if she ends up inventing the wheel in the next two books#also domesticating animals#also there were so many traumatizing scenes#three different rape scenes in book 4 !!???#I was going to throw up#It just.. got very uncomfortable to read#it changed me#so I now I'm thinking about the first book#yes it has all these same elements from the later books but they were sparse and were actually part of the plot#part of the character development. in other books they were just things that happened. Like. the characters are not impacted by it at all.#you could read the end of the book and nothing about the characters change after witnessing these traumatic experiences#they are the same from beginning to end#uh um sorry for the rant O_O#anyways I miss izaaaa#bye

Ok we all know Eddie uses Stevie for cute reasons but what if for a while (before they start dating) Steve keeps thinking Eddie means it in an ironic/condescending way because of this right here. And he actually hates it even more than King Steve.

Also, like, if they do eebie Blue, you have to realize how much of a BIG DEAL that would be in the Pokemon World. Cuz ok, Anabel didnāt really leave anyone behind, no canon family and she even got to keep her mons. Ingo left behind his brother Emmet and his team, so that's more distressing of course. But Blue?
Blue wouldn't just leave behind a sister but also a GRANDFATHER. Y'know, motherfucking Professor Oak. AKA possibly the Biggest Name in canon, THE quintessential Pokemon Professor. And for all we joke about him forgetting Blue's name, lbr, he definitely loves both his grandchildren deeply. So if one suddenly went missing, there's absolutely no way he wouldn't cash in every favor and pull every string to bring them home safe.
And that doesn't even touch on Blue's connection with the Kanto League as both a former Champion and Gym Leader, his legendary friendship with Champion Red, and of course their work in the Battle Tree.
Blue Oak disappearing would be a National fucking Emergancy across numerous regions, the likes of which we have yet to see in Pokemon.
#pokemon#pokemon legends za#pokemon legends arceus#rival blue#blue oak#green oak#professor oak#and ok sure they could eebie red instead#but cmon no one would ever realize something was up and red would conquer any Pokemon region without breaking a sweat#that would be an average weekend for him#blue in the other hand would probably be cool for a few days b4 going 'actually this fucking sucks' and returning to his brat routes#as he bitches and angrly tries to find a way home#regardless of memory loss#not even a total mind wipe could rob him of his brat sass core#complaining the entire time as he tries to reinvent the wheel which has been un-invented

wheel of time written by nuclear engineer robert jordan is actually about nuclear anxiety and the consequences of the development of new technology aiding and abetting unchecked usage of weapons of mass destruction. in this essay I will -
#thatās what balefire is!#rand contemplating how war tactics will change to accomodate gateways? mat feeling unhappy about aludraās invention of the cannons?#the seanchan hesitating when they think elayne deployed a powerful weapon to obliterate their forces? the race to get their hands on the#gateway weave? itās all right there.#text#wheel of time#and brandon sanderson went ahead and glamourised it. bye.#<- lmao I know this tag is going to piss so many people off like stay mad! if you want to interpret his writing with more generosity than#he deserves instead of examining his pattern of writing across all his books itās a you problem.#brandon

I do understand some people donāt want to see any criticism of the show, but many of us like to analyze and critique the books and that obviously extends to the show as well, both on its own and as an adaptation. But most of us really enjoy the show as well even if we have criticisms of it. This is not reddit or twitter and the people on tumblr critiquing the decisions that show makes are not doing so in an effort to tear down the show but because that is how we like to interact with media and the text.
And I get that people are wary of complaints/critiques about the show after the racist and misogynistic campaigns against season 1, but that does not mean that all criticism of the show is coming from a place of hatred. And I think itās natural with an adaptation that people will want to address what changes they didnāt (and did!) like and thatās okay!!
#idk maybe Iām inventing a guy to be mad at but I hate when people act like anyone who criticizes the show is a unhinged reddit-type hater#wot#wot on prime#wheel of time#ok now i'm going to bed#sorry if this is overly defensive

I've said this before but eighteenth century belfast was categorically insane. every single person was cutting about in the streets with 250 different jobs and running 5 committees for 12 separate organisations, some of which were illegal, on the side and still managing to have approximately a billion children and preach multiple sermons a week and spend every single night either gambling or writing more sermons until three in the morning. I take back everything I said about protestant work ethic because calvinismmaxxing is genuinely the only explanation other than lethal amounts of cocaine at this point
#why was david manson also building ye olde carnival rides and inventing spinning wheels how do you even have time to do that#18th century#jory.txt
